The Birth Of Spring
The Birth of Spring was composed (not sketched) on one day, 19 March 1969, at my family home in Lucas Valley (San Rafael), CA. It was performed in late May 1969 in a concert of my own works given at St. Patrick's College in Mt. View, CA. I did not understand it then, but this piece (conceived as a ballet but never performed as such) was a metaphor for major awakenings in my life, true Platonian visions that provided the catalyst for change and growth.I consider it a significant work in my early career as a composer.
