Compositions for Two Pianos
Compositions for Two Pianos
In the 19th century, the rapid proliferation of printed music perpetrated a virtual rage for two piano literature, often reductions of symphonic scores that could be played on either a single piano with four hands or on two separate instruments. The genre of
two piano literature represents something of a “treat” for pianists who typically do not have access to symphony orchestras, but who enjoy the sonorities created when 176 potential notes can be accessed simultaneously and when the free exchange between two musicians can be experienced in a live performance.
Now and again I have succumbed to the delight of writing for two pianos, and am pleased to present some compositions (mostly from my ancient archives!) for any who might like to try them. Why not drop me a note if you find any of this music useful.
